Thomas Inch History *
Thomas Inch (27 December 1881 – 12 December 1963) was a legendary British strongman, celebrated for his incredible feats of strength. In 1910, he earned the title of Britain’s Strongest Man, and even at the age of 68, he was still able to deadlift an impressive 540 lbs.
Some of his remarkable lifts included a two-hands-anyhow lift of 276 lbs and a bent press of 304.5 lbs. Known for his innovation in the field of strength training, Inch focused heavily on the development of dumbbells and barbells, pushing the boundaries of physical performance.
At his peak, Thomas Inch weighed 210 lbs, with the following impressive measurements:
50-inch chest
17-inch neck
19-inch biceps
15-inch forearm (measured with a straight arm—an important distinction)
27-inch thigh
17-inch calf
However, Inch is perhaps best known for his iconic challenge objects, particularly his renowned challenge dumbbells, which have become a symbol of grip strength and endurance in the world of strength sports.
